Costco WaterRidge Topmount kitchen faucet, Can't remove faucet

Have anyone seen a faucet mounting that looks like this before? I am trying to remove a leaking faucet, having a hard time removing it.

Faucet also lacking any model number or manufacturer.

Thank you so much. The previous owner installed this unit without using the long rectangular base piece. Is that kosher to avoid water leak?

The base plate is used if you have three holes. With a single hole it's not needed.
They should have cut out the wood under the counter. The wood continues to compress and the faucet will loosen.

Here is where I went back with a hole saw and cut out the wood to allow the clamping to the granite.
