Hi,
We just bought a house built in 1948 and have a corner toilet in our master bathroom. I've never seen innards like this before and actually would love to update it as is. The searches I have come up with so far look similar to a case toilet, but it has a large size tank.
The confusing thing to me is the drop plunger for the flush valve. I replaced the fill valve with no problems. I replaced the drop plunger with something that I found in Home Depot. Interestingly the brass connection rod was not long enough, so I had to use the original rod.
It seems like it is still not seating correctly after flush and leaking on most flushes. I remedy it by pressing down on the rod after flush to seat the plunger down in there.
Do I need to try and update it using the same flushing process? If so, how? If I were to update it with a flapper system, the problem I have is the overflow pipe being part of the tank and not independent of it. Ideas?
Thanks,
Will
