I am working within a very small space for a family bathroom and think a corner toilet may provide us more wiggle room, but I'm having a hard time calculating the appropriate clearance in front of and to the sides of the toilet. We are looking at the American Standard Cadet corner toilet. Our room measures 70" x 67". Right now the toilet faces the bath and there is not enough clearance in front of it - our knees hit the bathtub. I thought of turning it 90 degrees but that leaves less space for a sink area, which is already tight, so the corner looks like it might be a good solution. The bath will extend about 30" into the room. Does the corner toilet angle provide minimum 21" clearance to not hit the bathtub? I'm struggling with geometry.

We are also considering a wall-mount toilet but in our 1915 bungalow with lath and plaster I'm not confident it will save us much extra space.

We put in a Horow compact toilet as a stopgap 4 years ago but the seat is impossible to keep clean and the fill mechanism is failing, not to mention it's still far too close to the tub. We'd like a better solution. The last alternative is relocating everything so the tub takes the long wall and the toilet has more space to accommodate but if there is an easier solution that gives us the same amount of space I'd like to find it. Appreciate any advice!

Maybe measure 895 mm from the corner, and put some masking tape, or a mat, there, to help visualize.

To make measuring easier, consider dangling a weight from a string, and have the string at the right spot on your meterstick/yardstick.

You know you will be moving the closet flange.

Triangulate the 12"x12" hole, tap a nail into the floor at this point. Measure 18.5" out from that and make an arch with a pencil and a string. That is where you'll sit. Just set a bucket inside of the arch and sit on it. It'll be roughly how it'll feel to sit on the corner toilet.

The tip of the arch should be equal from each side wall. If you need to find the tip of the arch it should be easily measured that way. Any clearances should be marked and checked on the floor, or with an extremely accurate scaled model.
