contemporary p-trap odors?

How to contemporary p-traps such as the onew pictured here (not the top ones, but the ones a little further down that have the sideways T shape):

keep odors from escaping? I understand how the traditional U shaped p trap does this but I don't understand how the contemporary straight angled ones do it. Please help.

The have a partition down the middle, which is why they are illegal because you cannot tell if the partition gets a hole in it. The partition also restricts the free area of the trap because the area now has to have two flows running through it. The water in and the water out.

For a 1 DFU hand rinse sink, they work. As mentioned, water goes down and then back up because of a "Baffle". Not high tech. Used all over the world. Not illegal to sell them, to buy them, and AFAIK to install them in your own home.

MN says this about about traps (with emphasis added):

4715.0910 TRAPS DESCRIBED.

Every fixture trap shall be self-cleaning. Traps for
bathtubs, lavatories, sinks, showers, laundry tubs, urinals,
drinking fountains, and similar fixtures, shall be of standard
design and weight and shall be of lead, brass, cast iron, or
other approved materials, and have a smooth and uniform interior
waterway.

4715.0960 TRAPS PROHIBITED.

No form of trap which depends for its seal upon the action
of movable parts or concealed interior partitions shall be used.

Full "S" traps, bell traps, and crown vented traps, are

Traps shall not be made up with fittings, unless authorized
by the administrative authority.

Water-cooled grease traps are prohibited.

No fixture shall be double-trapped.

Drum traps shall be installed only when permitted by the
administrative authority for special conditions (laboratory
tables, dental chairs, etc.).

That site also has full S traps, which are redundant because they siphon.
For all the clogged lav drains with hair & soap scum gathered around the stop lever in the tailpiece I've had to take apart to unclog..I could only imagine how often a 1-1/4" partition trap would clog.
They're completely against code in my state.
