I'm installing a Fleck 5600 SXT softener. Originally I was going to use an 1" x 18" stainless flex tub. However, it is super long and I would like a more compact installation. I'm thinking hard copper for all or the majority of the run would be better. I have the 1" male noryl fitting coming off the back of the softener. Should I use a short run of PEX, Sharkbite to copper, or a copper female adapter with union? Or is there a better way?

Copper is my preference.

Thanks. No union, or add a union for future service? I'm a little concerned about the union being a little finicky and leaking.

Edit: That's one 'spensive piece of metal!

Since my Fleck 5600 SXT plumbing is mounted outside of wall with full access, I have no problems using Sharkbite type fittings. I installed the proper sharkbites into the yoke using my bench vise. I then slide yoke onto the pipes at the proper height to mate up with the softener. Then I just pushed the softer back into the yoke, before securing with the two screws.

Also, in the same closet I have my tankless water heater and RO filter tank/ filters mounted, so I added a leak detector that is linked with my Z-wave automation. That way I piece of mind when it comes to leaks.
