Condensate to drain connection

My contractor ran the HVAC condensate drain down from the attic but did not tie it into the sink drain. I bought a branch tailpiece but my current faucet drain pipe runs down too low and I can't get the branch positioned above the P trap. Do I have to replace the existing drain that came with my faucet with a shorter one?

You can use a hacksaw. Yet that alone will not be enough.

Can you reverse the U of the trap to make the input lower than the output of the U? If not, you could replace the trap I think. It looks like you have a trap adapter at the wall. If that is the case, it would be easy to replace the trap with one that has a reversible J bend.

Another possibility is to put a hole in your tailpiece, and clamp on a drain saddle. Condensate drainage may be slow enough. https://www.appliedmembranes.com/me...dle_installation_instructions_for_home_ro.pdf I am not sure that is a good idea, but it would get the water routed. Would there be clogging due to the small diameter later? I don't know.

Do you mean something like this? I would have to cut pretty high up. What is the lowest level for the branch that would be acceptable? Would that make the trap too deep? Thanks

Yes, but you would need to bring the branch tailpiece extension down to the smooth part of the tailpiece.

Keep the yellow dimension under 4 inches.

Plumb Pak® 1-1/2" Brass Dishwasher Tailpiece with 7/8" Branch PP142CP seems to put the branch higher.

Oops.. that is a tailpiece rather than a tail piece extension.

That would put the branch below the outlet. Wouldn't that be a problem since the connection from the condensate drain is always under water?

Given the acidic nature of condensate I wouldn't use anything metal in the drainage connection...
Drainage from combustion, like a tankless water heater or a high efficiency furnace would be strongly acidic. From an AC evaporator such as an A-frame, I would not think you would have a corrosive acid.

I replaced the tailpiece but the branch connects right where the nut used to be positioned

Should I look for an arm that extends further down, an extension to connect the existing arm and trap, or a deeper trap? I'm short on either end by about a half inch
