Hello everyone this is my first time posting.
I am in the middle of redoing my shower and currently have all the tile and old drywall removed down to the studs. When i removed everything there was a concrete curb around the entire interior of the shower that lined up with the old tile backer board wasn't sure if this was common or not I've tried to look it up but have had no luck. Not sure if I should try and remove it before preceding.

Are you on a slab or wood floor? Very common in Florida on slabs. Usually the bottom of the shower floor is below the slab and was framed out with a 2x4 so it is 3 1/2” deep. My last house I removed the tile but there were no curbs, just a step down. My present home had a curb built. It was all removed and the shower is now a step down. I have pictures of my shower on this post. https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/step-down-shower-pan.85155/#post-612348
