Closet Flange & bend installation

Hi all, I'm trying to install a toilet and have purchased a closet bend that is 4"-3" and a flange that is 3"-4" the flange does not fit snug into the bend and I'm at a loss as to why these parts don't fit together- I followed the specification from my plumbing book. Does anyone know why these parts dont fit? How much of an issue is this? And any advice on the right size flange for my bend would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this is the same flange. This flange is you glue on the outside of a 3", the inside for a 4" pipe, not a bend.

You have a 4" hub x 3" hub 90.
That would take a 4" spigot closet flange for the 4" hub side.

A 4x3 closet flange works with 3".

You would want a 4 inch spigot closet flange to glue into the closet bend you bought. A 4 in. x 3 in. PVC DWV 90 Degree Spigot x Hub Street Closet Elbow would let you mount a 4 inch outside closet flange or an inside closet flange, as you have. However I would not glue in an all-plastic closet flange.

Given that closet elbow, there are a lot of good choices, including no-glue solutions. Without glue, you can correct an error with no penalty.

Thanks for the reply! The issue is that the flange doesn't make contact with the bend except at the very bottom- the walls don't touch if that makes sense?

Find a spigot flange (tail is the same size as a pipe). Or switch to a closet bend (closet elbow) with a different top.

Lots of stuff available. Taking back what you have already may be easier and better.

The closet flange is matted to a pipe only. Please Re-read Terry's and Reach's comments and suggestions.
