A couple of years ago, I called out a plumber because both sinks in our guest bath were draining incredibly slowly. He went into the attic with a small electric auger and ran it down the vent stack. I know that he carried a bottle up there to lubricate the snake as it went down, and he said the clog was only about 10' below the vent stack opening.
The same sinks are acting up again and I'd like to try and clear it myself because I just changed jobs and haven't gotten a paycheck from the new company. I have a 25' sink auger that I'd like to try to use. I think it's one that you can connect to a drill rather than using the handle.
I would guess that the plumber was using dish soap, possibly mixed with water, to pour down the snake. Does that sound feasible?
