Hello, just had the main sewer line to the house rodded out. It appears the clean out plug won't screw back in due to some worn threads on the main pipe. Is there something I can do to replace the existing clean out plug without having to dish out more money than I already have? It looks like the clean out plug was epoxied prior as the plumber had no issue with taking it off with just a few taps. Any information is appreciated.

No. However a new cleanout plug is cheap enough. Get PVC, brass, and I see they even offer lead.

If you are saying that there appears to be epoxy on the female threads, so a new cap will not screw on, see if you can pick off the epoxy. An old dental pick can be a good tool. Old used ones are often sold to electronics hobbyists. Maybe a small nail gripped in a small vicegrip pliers would serve as a suitable pick.

I wonder if the lead plugs are better able to adapt to flawed threads.
