I am looking at some videos to change the whole house carbon filter. They talk about shutting the water on both the input and the output and releasing the air pressure before removing the filter, and after the filter is installed. My current setup is as follows: I have an input shutoff valve, but nothing on the output, and no pressure release valve/switch that I can see. For the output side, can I just shutoff the input (and output?) of the water softener instead? What about the air pressure--will it be a problem?
I am also assuming that this uses a standard 4.5x20 inch carbon filter cartridge.
I appreciate any help since this will be the first time I am doing this. Thanks.
