Caulk needed for bathtub spout?

My tub spout (moen) doesn't attach directly to the wall but to another ringed fixture that attaches to the wall. It has a set screw. There is about 1/16 of an inch between the spout and the ringed fixture. Does it need to be caulked?

I would uses some clear caulking on that.
