Can you run a water heater with the anode rod removed & port open?

In theory, could you do this? Or would it affect the pressure in some way? Not suggesting this for home use, just trying to experiment with something and get an idea for how these work...

Sorry if i did anything wrong making this post, I am a new user

I am not a pro. I would do that for an experiment. Of course you cannot build any pressure, or water will squirt out of the open port. The valve supplying water to the WH would need to be closed once the WH was full up to the anode hole. Also know that if an element of an electric WH is not covered with water while on, you will burn out the element.

How do want to design it with a pump to build pressure or by height to have pressure to use? And why do you want a vented heater? Just remember heater are designed for hot water to exit from the top.

With the port open, it's like having a no restriction valve open. SO, if you wanted water everywhere, I suppose, sure, you could leave it open.

Hey, wait a minute.
