Can you install the p trap away of the shower drain ?

Due to the fact that I would have only close to 3" below the shower drain and a p trap installed right under the shower drain and since I would need to transition from 2" to 1 1/5" (my pipes are 1.5") I am exploring the option to install the p trap away from the sh0wer drain, like I sketched it below
Is that OK and allowed ?
