Can incoming feed have a right angle connection to pump

I'm just about to install a shallow well jet pump with the water coming from a lake about 100' away, down a slope for a 15' total drop.

Should the feed into the pump be straight in? Will an L-shaped connector impede the operation? The L-shape allows me to situate the pump more conveniently.

It is best to have 6-12 inches of straight pipe entering a jet pump.
