Can I use a sump pump instead of a sewage pump when bathroom waste is only liquid?

The floor of our heated garage is about four feet lower than the main level of the house and as a result, the attached garage bathroom’s drain lines (sink and men’s stand-up urinal only) drain into a sump pit in the basement. (The foundation drain system tiles lead to two sump pits at the other end of the basement). The bathroom pit is set-up with a vertical 2” discharge pipe that goes up 7-1/2 feet and connects directly into a main sewer line which leads to the septic system behind the house. The sump pit is properly vented. Since only liquid waste (dirty water and pee) are going into the pit, can I get away with using a decent 1/2 HP sump pump instead of a sewage pump or will it get trashed over time? It would save me $150 and with my business sucking due to Covid 19, I’m trying to save money anywhere I can. I have a lot of projects (driveway, roof, painting etc.) that need to be done to two houses so saving a hundred here and there will add up rather quickly. Thanks much!

I very seldom use a sump pump and opt for a sewer ejector and the few times I did use a sump for clear water is was never less than a 1/2 HP

I'd probably spend the extra 150 and save money somewhere else. The reason being that if the pump fails early, it will certainly cost you more. I'm sure the warranty on the unit will be voided by this as well. On the other hand, you may get away with it, and the worst case is probably you have to replace the pump.

You should be good as long as you get a good quality pump. I like the Zoeller m53 for most jobs. If it can handle muddy water it should be fine for your situation.
