Hello

The ban of sales and installation of gas water heater in parts of California goes into effect at the end of this year (2026).

I currently have one and so do my parents. I also manage a two unit rental that has them.

Is it worth buying a few and putting them in storage until needed?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

better off selling everything and getting out !
I havent read the details these sick political hacks they want us all electric but want to shut down all the power plants they back pedaled on Diablo nuke and a bunch of gas power plant closures in so cal
but they havent stopped selling gas heaters yet they will eventually price us out of using gas if they get thier way take a run to reno and buy a coupkle water heaters but they wont stop selling gas w/h in 26 in ca besides im voting for hilton or bianco

are regular LOw Nox gone now? I could have traveled less than an hour and bought low nox in liew of ultra low nox and saved at least 100 bucks but never did . we could have gone to victorville its outside the smog area I guess itll be vegas now LOL

We can use multi-area(statewide) plumbing wholesalers and buy HVAC and plumbing and have it shipped into our area still. But, we don't broadcast that info for fear the loophole will close. Ultra Low NOx heating equipment is crap, so we always purchase standard Low NOx and have delivered. Home Depot and Lowes seem to have the lowest priced WHs.

You would be wise and prudent to just buy a few of them and store them for the day you wiill need them
Or you could drive across the border to Nevada and buy them

Murphey's law states that if you have them in storage, odds are you will actually never need them,
I have a 60 gallon gas rheem heater sitting in my office just waiting for the day my heater goes out in my
home..... it will never happen..... so its a win-win for me
