Have a newer Samsung dishwasher that is having trouble draining water from the pan. The way they did the install is they ran the drain hose through the bottom of the in-between cabinet and then it goes up into the p-trap with a high loop. Has to be a 10ft hose - 6 foot would never make it. I am thinking the drain hose should have been run through the top of the cabinet which would create a loop right by the dishwasher and prevent water from draining back into the pan?
Of course it could just be the crappy Samsung dishwasher. They seem to have quite the reputation for retaining water in the pan.
