Hello

I just broke the cold water stem for my shower. I unscrewed the handle to find out that the plastic stem is broke in half. When the main shut off value is on, the cold water tap leaks. I've asked about replacement stems for the shower but it appears to be too old. I was wondering what you may do if you were in the same situation? I'm guessing my best option is to get a new two faucet shower fixture and get someone to replace the existing fixture.

I am also wondering if I should remove the acrylic handle so that there is nothing stopping the water. I am worried that the cracked stem and all that water is actually running into my wall.

Thanks
