Briggs toilet repair, tank loses a bit of water.

I have a Briggs toilet that keeps leaking. I've changed the parts in the toilet tank 3 times. And no luck
I even took the toilet tank off from the bowl filled it with water, set it on a 5 gallon bucket and left it all night.
The next day the 5 gallon bucket was dry. So I installed the tank back on the toilet turned the water on and it
will lose about one half inch water every half house. I own rentals and have changed many, many toilets over
the last 35 or so years, so I'm not a rookie. Can't figure this out.

A fill valve often has a fill tube pointed into the overflow tube.
There should be a gap between the top of the overflow and the tubing so that it doesn't siphon water from the tank into the overflow.

If you don't have collector's interest in the toilet, the easier thing may be to replace the toilet. I understand that you feel invested at this point.

Thanks Terry. It is working fine now.
The refill tube was down in the overflow pipe about 3 inches. Took it out, cut the tube back , found a angle adapter
put it on and that cured the problem. I was 5 minutes away from spending $150.00 on a new toilet instead of less than a dollar
for an angle adapter. Thanks again.
