15 year old valve sprung a leak and flooded my lower level creating significant water damage to carpet and wall. Plumber says he replaces this same valve for this problem 2-3 a week in my Northern Virginia area. Is this common elsewhere? Was there a defect in this piece (read: Can I get reimbursed damages and plumbing costs). Any news is welcome

At my condo we have Honeywell Braukmann PRV (15 buildings) and they are 19 years old and still going strong.

As to damage, check your homeowners policy. Depending on coverage, the repairs may very well be covered.
