A lot of times for some reason threaded pipes won't want to break loose to unscrew. One trick you can do is to tighten the pipe or fitting to get it moving then you should be able to unscrew it normally. Sometimes a torch is needed to heat the fitting to get the pipe and fitting to come apart. An old steamfitter trick is to get the fitting really hot with a torch and put a toilet wax ring on the thread to melt it and the wax will draw in like solder in a sweat fitting and it will lubricate the thread and make it easier to unscrew. It is called capillary action.
