Hello. A while back I had my oil fired boiler yearly service performed. The technician took the attached photos noting that I should consider getting the boiler replaced. For reference, the boiler is a Burnham RSA125TH-TB. See attached nameplate. I'd like a second opinion. Should I be concerned based on the photos taken? The boiler still functions well.

Boiler was made june of 2000. Boiler not leaking? Tubes need to be brushed to get that white layer off. The cracks in the refectory need to be filled and coated. Guess this boiler is hot water. Crack a drain valve fill a glass. Water stink and black? Has the burner ever set up with a flue analyzer? In any of the paper work from service company does it state the nozzle size and oil pressure? Water temp?

No leaks from the boiler itself, just leaks from valves around the boiler over time which have been fixed. Yes, boiler does both heating and hot water. Hot water is via an internal coil. I am attaching the latest report and a few additional photos. Is this the type of information you're looking for? I will try opening the drain valve later today and report back.

Unfortunately oil fired burners require a lot more service than a gas fired burner.

If you contact several oil delivery companies you can negotiate a new boiler if you sign a 5 year contract for oil delivery plus a service contract for approximately $100 a year.

This is the test I used to perform prior to suggesting replacement.

The new boilers are much more efficient if properly maintained.

Ironic how people will buy a new car like I do every 2 -10 years.

A boiler cost much less normally and very little maintenance is performed compared to a car and boilers are expected to last over 40 years.

I had an account the toilet was installed in 1956 and I told her it would be cheaper to just replace it and she said WHY?

I explained the Douglas valve, fill valve (ball cock) and bolts would be labor intensive to replace.

Same with a water heater or boiler why wait for it to fail in a dead of winter?

Now boilers are cheaper to install in the summer rather than having an emergency call on a snowy day in January @2 am

By the way I decided to get rid of my Toyota Tacoma TRD sport 2022 and buy a Tundra 2023 Capstone

I did get an amazing trade in price I lost less than $5,000 ( I cant lease one for less than $5,000 a year)

I sold my Lexus 460 L AWD and BMW 750 M sport VERY over priced and it sucked ......Worst car I ever bought was a BMW

The Capstone is amazing Check them out
