Is it possible for the scale in unsoftened water lines to break loose and clog a water line?

Doing some renovation where old copper was cut and replaced with PEX. Thinking that the cutting etc might have helped scale to break off and then travel downstream. When line is opened at faucet, nothing. When line is shaken, we get a jolt of water. House is 1950s, no softener, in SW Ontario.

If this is in fact the situation, I'm thinking I'll cut the lines, both at fixture and upstream, and then send compressed air down through pipes.

EDIT: It's a single line, not lines. Cold water.

Thoughts?

Thanks for any responses.

Sometime you can open a line and back flush from the hot side, and then recouple.
Backflushing may work.
