Black Poly Connection Help

I have a 1960’s era cottage that has a well pit with what I believe is a 1” poly pipe coming into my crawlspace. At this point there is a mix of different piping (mix of cpvc, pex, copper) that I would like to cleanup. I would like to start fresh off the poly pipe but am curious on best way to transition to pex.

In my research this black pipe might be polybutylene. If it is would I use the same fitting to transition to pex?

I added a pic that shows the current mess. Also showing the current “clamps” on the poly pipe. I’m not familiar with the type of clamp.

They make a coupling fitting from poly to pex. Being a cottage the use is full time or part time? Full time might consider cpvc for hot and pvc for cold. That way hot water can be insulated as it getting installed slid over the pipe. Can hang it off bottom of joists get the runs close to tie ins. Also can put drains in.

My guess since it is black, that it is polyethylene.

Any issues using a standard adjustable clamp vs crimp style?

Polyethylene pipe comes in different sizes. One is called CTS. The one that is usually connected with barbed fittings and worm gear clamps is SIDR (aka S.I.D.R.) There is also IPS, and that one confuses me.

SIDR stands for Standard Inside Dimension Ratio... the ID stays the same with different wall thicknesses, so it fits barbs. You will probably need to heat the pipe to get it over the barb. Boiling water is good because it will not overheat the pipe..

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I will plan on adding a 90 transition to 3/4” pex off the main line, leaving the black poly laying on the ground. I’ll run a vertical 3/4 pex line to a manifold secured to a mounting board on the bottom of my floor joists. From the manifold I will run 1/2” pex to each fixture (bath sink, shower, washing machine, water heater and outdoor spigot). Does this sound like an ok plan? Hopefully my explanation makes sense. No run will be longer than 15’, most less than 10’.

I think I found the transition pieces. Dow this look right to go from 1” poly to 3/4” pex.
