Tried that and it dripped. If I do a search, I get half saying use tape, and half saying use dope.Use tape on PVC to brass. No dope.
I just did one today. White teflon only, 7 - 8 times around.
I am installing a replacement backflow preventer on my sprinkler system.
What do you consider the best pipe dope to use to seal threaded PVC to brass?
Thanks!
http://bluemonsterproducts.com/ptfe-thread-sealants_ptfe-thread-tapes.shtml has good info. Their Blue Monster PTFE Thread Seal Tape has a density of 0.80, which is denser than your standard cheap white stuff. Their yellow gas tape has a density of 1.50, which is a further step up.Blue Monster Teflon Tape
I have run across a Monster lie: "Composition 99.6% PTFE < 0.4% Pigment" followed by "Density 0.8g/cm3". (https://www.supplyhouse.com/Blue-Monster-70885-TFE-Blue-Monster-1-2-PTFE-Thread-Seal-Tape)http://bluemonsterproducts.com/ptfe-thread-sealants_ptfe-thread-tapes.shtml has good info. Oatey Pink has a density of 1.35 to 1.50.
https://www.globalspec.com/learnmor..._fabricated_materials_components/thread_tapes has some discussions of PTFE tape.
Therefore something with less than 1.0 density would be less than 50% ptfe.
You are probably right.Hmmm. Styrofoam likely has a lower density than the base material used to fabricate it.
Could PFTE tape be made with voids, which would reduce the density but still be close to 100% PFTE? I doubt anyone includes air as an ingredient. The pigment might be included though.

This is awkward, but...
