I live in south Florida. our water is like 8 feet deep here. So I have to redo my piping on my well. It was originally feeding my house which is 1.25” so the well pipe is 2” and it’s reduced to 1.25”. I am going to use this well for my irrigation which is a goulds irrigator 1.5 which is a 1.5” intake pipe but the sprinkler system is all 1.25” so the pipe coming out of the sprinkler pump is 1.25”

The problem is the 2” pipe elbow has a reducer in it to 1.25”. I could cut the elbow out and redo it but the elbow is grouted in. im considering chiseling out the grout to replace the elbow but I’m wondering if I’m just making a mess for myself. The end decision will result in me having a 1.5hp pump and a 1.25” sprinkler system with either a 1.25” or 1.5” intake pipe. Not sure if increasing the intake pipe size will make any difference and the cost is about $100 by the time I buy a couple new unions, a check valve and all the fittings and pipe.

any thoughts on if this is a worthy endeavor or should I just leave it?

Is your pump a suction pump at the house? I would guess yes.

Is there a sand point at the bottom of your PVC pipe below the elbow in your photo? I would guess yes.

What are the symptoms?

Yes, pump at the house.

Yes, there is a piece of pipe like 100’ into the ground.

No symptoms. I am just swapping the well from my house to my sprinklers so wondering if I should upgrade to 1.5” as now would be the time to do it.
