I bought the watts brass bathtub drain and installed it the other day. I ran the water and I had no leaks but today I noticed a little leak so I tightened the compression fitting a bit more and broke the darn thing. This is the second drain that I have installed but I don’t remember these rubber compression fittings. Brass pipe and a rubber compression ring, I don’t think it will hold up over time. What do you guess think? Do they sell the screw in types? That doesn’t have compression fittings.

Some times the rubber jam nut washers are a little stubborn.

Exactly what kind of tools were you using to break a jam nut?

Try 11/2" plastic jam nut washers. Hand tight and then just set it with a good pair of curved jawed Channel Locks.
