It seems these posts are popular here this week so why not. I am closing up a ceiling under a bathroom. Wanted to make sure nothing was leaking and left it open a few months.
I was just doing moisture readings tonight and it's cold down there, maybe 60 after going away for 2 days and having heat on very low. My meter started at 3.5% before doing any readings.
I was getting 9% on the plywood directly under the bathtub, I have spray foam under it. It's one of those cheap maax tubs that did not call for any mortar, but I put some foam under it anyway.
3 other random spots where its just mortar and tile, its 11%.
Then directly around the ABS fittings where the toilet sits on, 13%.
Wondering if that sounds about normal, being a KLEIN contact moisture meter. Wondering if its likely the thin tile causing a higher reading and the the thick porcelain toilet causing that much higher of a reading for the toilet area? No visible moisture or leaks.
