avoid well system freeze-up

Thanks. Weather permitting I wll test a couple potential solutions and report back to this thread. This may take a while. Great forum!!!!

Finally I can report back. We had very mild weather last Saturday so I was able to install a spring loaded bleeder valve. Everything worked well .....as expected. When the pump stopped running I opened the small air valve that is tapped into the pump side of the check valve by the tank and the down pipe emptied through the new spring loaded bleeder. Good solution. When we get good weather again I will simplify the system by removing the check valve by the tank so I can empty the down pipe by leaving a faucet open, as Valveman suggests. (Remember I have a check valve at the pump also). Thanks again.
