Aquaflo Ultracore 3/4” MIP X 3/4” CPVC Socket
Braided water heater connector
WHL-2124-PP
WH-2124-PP
MAINTENANCE/WARNINGS
Keep hose assembly dry
Inspect every six months and replace immediately in the event of leaks, wear, discoloration and any visible signs of corrosion
Do not re-use
Replace every 5 years regardless of condition
Do not expose to corrosive materials, household cleaners, external heat sources
I found these on a water heater replacement. The spec sheet says to "not reuse" which I never do anyway. However, nobody knew what they were so to replace them meant changing the fittings at the wall. I had to cut off the CPVC and adapt to what I normally use, flex connectors with FIP ends.
There is a glue on socket that holds the back nut. A rubber seal between the backing nut on the thin threaded socket that threads in. Home Depot doesn't carry them, my plumbing supplier, the first person I check with had never seen them either. It added about two hours to the job figuring out what I needed to do, as I guess wrong on how these things worked, and therefore some extra trips for parts I don't normally do. Yeeha!
In the Northwest, earthquake country, I normally use copper corrugated flex. You don't need to toss those every five years like the braided hoses on water heaters.
