I have a slow leak water leak at the base of my V100 where the pipe connects to the tank. Tank maintains pressure at expected levels. Is this a repair or replace?

If the leak is from a pipe or fitting, except for the elbow underneath the tank, you can fix the pipe. If the leak is at the tank elbow or anywhere on the tank, you will need to replace it.

Unfortunately, the leak is between the elbow and the tank, so I need to replace. I am in the midst of an addition from 2 baths to 3 1/2, plus a kitchenette, and a dog wash. Well water with, as I recall from 10 years ago, a 1/2 hp submersible (110' depth). Water table begins at 19'. Last Fall I ran the well pump for more than 2-3 minutes, water turned rust red. Ran it for several hours trying to flush , no change. Took several hours for sediment to go away in system with a household filter. Will be adding a softener in the immediate future. So, suggestions for replacement, how to move forward?

Also, get a lab water test before buying a softener. I like kit90 from http://www.karlabs.com/watertestkit/ You will probably have results in a little less than two weeks, because there is a round trip in the mail in addition to the testing time.

Forget mail order lab results. That round trip throws off the pH, nitrate and nitrite readings not to mention the bacteria analysis... Stick with a local state approved lab for the most accurate analysis.

Thanks for the advice. Had my water test done last week. Getting educated and then some about softeners!
The important common numbers are pH, hardness, iron, manganese. Of course scan for other numbers that have an MCL like arsenic, and if you are even half of the MCL, mention it. Note sulfur smell or absence of such smell with your nose. Most tests don't test for H2S. See http://www.qualitywaterassociates.com/softeners/sizingchart.htm and skim to the bottom and click the link at the bottom. That leads you to a calculator.

Read through https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?forums/water-softener-forum-problems-installation-and-r.22/ and post your softener and filter related info.
