Any health risks from drinking softened water, or softened water filtered through an RO filter

Reason I'm asking, for the point of use RO under the kitchen sink, I had to use a special faucet that limits leaching metals from the agressive RO filtered water passing through. Some family members developed GERD around around the time these filters were installed. Just wondering if there can be any correlation
