Another irrigation pump sizing question

Hello all, thanks in advance for your input. I have a large pump house that is shared with another party that provides canal water for irrigation. This "water box" is 135 feet downhill slope from my property so best guess the 1.5" pvc pipe to the pressure tank is about 325 feet long. The pump will be set about 4-5' deep in the box. A local recommended a goulds 10gs10412c. I am looking at a Grundfos 10SQ10-290 for the gain of energy savings as best i can tell, it has a more efficient motor. This pump also houses the starting electronics, which i hope are reliable. This pump will feed a pressure tank on a 40/60 with a 24 gallon draw down and is strictly for irrigation on a 16 zone irrigation setup that uses 40 psi regulation. Currently the irrigation is on the house well that produces 7-8gpm at 500 feet and I want to conserve that pump for obvious reasons . Just looking for opinions on this grundfos as reliability goes and any other suggestions/ concerns thay come to mind. Thanks again.
 
I would wait for an opinion from someone with pump knowledge like Staff Member Valveman. My only experience with the SQ is one that overheated and is currently squeezed in a 3" PVC casing.
Are you saying that the pump is in a flow inducer now, to prevent overheating?
 
No, there isn't room for a flow inducer in a 3" PVC casing and not needed due to the snug fit. The well owner allowed the exposed wellhead to freeze, causing the pump to deadhead and melt the casing area around the pump. Luckily a stainless steel safety cable was used that will allow retrieval, if I can design a heating device to free the pump.

Ouch. Sounds challenging. How far down is the pump?

60' at the bottom of the 3" surface casing, just above a 3"x 2" reducer. This is a 3x2 well that has a 2" lower feeder casing with screen, allowing for the use of a submersible pump. Pushing the pump down is not an option, because the motor end will block water flow from the lower casing.
 
The SQ is a good pump and works well with a Cycle Stop Valve and regular pressure switch. Any pump will overheat and melt the casing if it is left running with no water flowing, even with a flow inducer.
