Hello All, few days ago we replaced our entire Central AC unit. New Heat Pump and Air Handler. Older unit was over 12 years old and finally had Freon leak in the evaporator coil.

We went with Silver 14 Heat Pump (2.5 Ton) with matching Temp4 Air Handler.

Most folks told us key to long lasting HVAC is the install. Our older Air Handler was perfectly aligned with all components. However this new Air Handler seems little off.

Should this be a concern for us? Air Flow maybe getting impacted since bottom components doesn't seem to align too well?

That is an ugly one. It looks like you got the discount install - either inexperienced or doesn't care about details. At first glance a narrower (and shorter) air handler might have been more appropriate. You should contact the owner with your concerns.

Regardless of outcome you should verify now that there is enough room so that you can replace the air filter. Also there needs to be a trap on the condensate line.

Thank you for the reply and your suggestion. Our heat pump stop working as well few hours after everything was done. They came back to told us starter relay was factory defect. Issue was heat pump fan will continue to run, however when the compressor kicked in it will immediately stop. They found out starter/capacitor relay was bad. They ended up removing the capacitor/relay assembly and replaced it with some other device. Told us relay is not really needed.

I am planning to call American Standard tomorrow and complain why did their brand new sealed unit had components like relay switches which are not needed per their Authorized Dealers/Service partners. :)

American Standard does not have tech support for consumers. They only offer tech support for Authorized Dealers. So be aware when buying American Standard you will be at the mercy of the installer who may be outsourcing their installs to keep cost down.
