Trying to connect p-trap center of what’s supposed to be our future shower drain. Is this okay to go through the joist with a small straight nipple p trap from to then 90 towards waste drain pipe 90?

No. All your vents below the flood level must be drainage fittings and the vent for the shower must take off the invert/top of the pipe

You should be using a solvent weld trap rather than one with a union. 2" traps with unions are prone to leaking and you don't want that. If you can use a LS 1/4 bend rather than what you have it would be better.
