Three hundred feet of underground waterline leaks 2 gallons per day. The pipe is 3/4" schedule 40 PVC.
Someone else has installed the waterline. Big trees near where the line is.
Replace the line or live with it? How likely is it that it will start pouring all of a sudden?

Thanks.

IT depends on WHY it is leaking. IF it is a bad joint the water will "erode" the pipe and fitting until it becomes a gusher. If it is a cracked fitting, it will just get worse until it also becomes a gusher. There is no "acceptable" leak because they only get worse. They never get better or stay the same.

Don't know why the whole line would need replacing, but fixing the leak certainly should be done.
