Hi everyone, I have a question about running AC ducts from a trunk in the attic to the first floor. The total run for each duct is approximately 30'. One duct is for a laundry room and the other is for an adjacent bathroom, which is a bit longer. This was done before we bought the house, however, I am re-modeling the rooms the ducts traverse and have the opportunity to make it right, in the event this is not best practice. Here are the options I am considering:
1- Leave it alone. These are two separate flex-ducts with a very low r-value and are quite old. One is 6" and the other is 7".
2- Change the ducts to a higher r-value rating. Use the same size flex ducts.
3- Change the ducts to oval to get tighter soffits to hide the ducts and better aesthetics.
4- Make it a single duct, with 2 registers.
I would like to know what everyone recommends, please feel free to ask questions.
Thank you in advance!
