Winter is setting in and we recently went to turn on the heat in zone 2. The furnace did not kick on. We purchaced a new thermistat, since we did not see an light flash when it hit the mercury. An old outdated thermistat. After changing the thermistat the furnace still does not kick on. We checked the wiring. When holding the wires together the TACO Zoning light turns on for the zone. The furnace makes a rubbing noise (like a car trying to start but the battery is dead) but the furnace cant turn on. What should we do next? I have a woodstove in this zone so we are utilizing it to keep us warm in that area of the house for cold nights.
