I own several lots and have two wells on my property and one on the other. I have a tree nursery and use two wells for that and one just for the house.

1) First tree nursery well is installed with a slow start pump and poly pipe at 470 feet on a 500 feet well. Brand new
2) second tree nursey well pump is installed slow start pump on poly pipe at 350 feet on a 370 feet well. 1 year old

3) House well is PVC and 500 feet deep. I've owned this house since 2008. Previous home owner gave me a bunch of receipts and this well pump is from 2003. So it is 22 years old. I am debating replacing it this fall. Getting everything ready and just pull out one and then drop down in a day. I've used poly pipe in my other two. I know it would exceed 200 psi if the water gets low enough.
1) Should I use poly pipe or pvc?
2) Does everyone use screw pvc or glue pvc?
3) What schedule would you use for that deep of a well?

I am thinking of using PVC for this well just to test to see if it last longer than poly pipe. Interested to hear your opinion.

The burst pressure of any pipe is 2-5 times the rated pressure. Most pump guys would use sch 120 PVC threaded. Never glue anything in a well. However, with poly I would use 250# rated with long barb fittings with at least two hose clamps each. Poly just makes it easier to DIY. Poly pipe will last forever. The only problem with poly that long is the start torque from the motor causing the wire to slap the casing or rub the pipe. I am assuming you have SQ pumps, as they are the only ones I know with soft start. That will help with the wire slapping, but it is still the number of starts you need to reduce as much as possible. Would need the pump model numbers and static water level to see if a CSV could even be used with such high pressure pumps. But if applicable the CSV would give many benefits, including reducing the problem of slapping the wire.
