Hi there -

I thought I understood the Fleck system when I got it from Amazon, but I'm a little confused now. I got the combo iron filter and water softener because I got a good deal on it opposed to just the filter. I know I need to filter iron but I don't think I have hard water (I'm in the coastal plain of NC). Do I have to connect the salt brine container to the system or can I just use the tank with the control box on top to filter out the iron? That tank came pre-filled with an aggregate that is supposed to capture the iron.

Closing this out. After 5 gallons of water in my crawlspace followed by a thorough study of the owner's manual (live and learn), the 2510 is completely configurable as a filter only. A couple of the initial settings define this operation mode, thus eliminating all of the brine tank settings, draw-fill-backwash.

Note: These setups ship from the supplier pre-configured and since I had a combo valve and brine tank the valve was preset for both.
