I feel like this is a subject that would have resulted in a good sized thread but I can't seem to find it while searching. Or maybe Im not using the correct search terms. Throw me a bone here?
What are the pros and cons for 2 and 3 wire?
I have a 2 wire 220v pump right now and plan to replace it and likely rewire from panel to pump. This is a residential application but we might do some small scale irrigation. 175' well with a 10gpm pump right now. Plan to upgrade.
-One guy told me that if I go with a 2 wire, I should still bury 3 wire in the ground in the event that I can only find a 3 wire pump in the future
-I also read about 3 wire being better for areas with a lot of lightning since the control box is easily serviceable above ground. This info seemed data so maybe that isn't much of an issue anymore?
What about interfacing with generators and such? Price? Availability of control panels??? I have seen where some folks are complaining about not being able to find replacement control panels.
thanks,
Drew
