Forgive me if this is a real basic question...First post by a newby!
I am installing a new toilet onto a cast iron flange. The flange only has two half-round "cutouts" on each side for the closet bolts not the wide-then-narrow slots that I see on most newer flanges. The closet bolt heads just sit in these cutouts between the floor and the bottom of the flange.
The challenge is that the closet bolts spin rather easily when tightening the nuts, as there is nothing to keep them from doing so.
My question is: Is this normal, and if not, what is the remedy?
