Question 1)

I'm planning to rough in a 3pc bathroom in a basement below an existing kitchen.

Attached is my sketch in plan view (i.e. the below the slab part). The plan is to wet vent the shower and WC using the LAV drain. I believe under Ontario building code, my 2" trap arm for the LAV can be up to 8' long. The trap arm isn't shown in the sketch, but it will run through the wall over to LAV, and will be just under 8'.

Currently the 4" (green) on the 45 extends all the way to the corner where the kitchen stack is. Please correct me if there is a better way, but I believe I have to reroute the kitchen drain around the bathroom as shown in the sketch.

I wanted to double check with the pros that my proposal looks OK and see if there are any suggestions for improvement.

Question 2)

This work is being done in an old home (approx 65+ years old) with old clay pipes for the building drain under the slab. My plan is the replace all the clay pipes while I have everything dug up. I've noticed that as I'm excavating, my copper water service, which is live, is fastened to the clay pipe couplings in a few areas. Obviously I have to be very careful as I'm removing the clay drains to not damage my copper service line and have a live leak. I'm unable to turn the water off myself before the meter. It's a bit hard to tell how the clay sections are fastened together because everything is so rusted out/covered in mud. Any suggestions for how to safely detach the water service line from the clay pipe couplings so I can remove the old pipes?

65 year old copper under slab Why not replace ? 1 1/2 kitchen line we only run 2 inch

Do you get basement flooding in your area on occasion? If so, there are ways to deal with that.

Most effective is "overhead sewers" where basement waste goes to a vented sealed pit, with a pump that can deal with the solids, and pump the material up.

Next best is to run the basement waste through a normally-open backwater valve. Add the upper floor waste downstream of the backwater valve.

Notation convention: for a wye or other 3-port fitting, the order of dimensions is output x input x side port

Thinking about replacing the water line. Some parts don't follow the drain so that would require more concrete busting (I've been at it for three days now and almost done the drain!). I don't really want to dig outside to replace the water service all the way at the property line. Do some people replace the service line only in the basement without changing the part in the front lawn between the city shut off and the where the line enters the basement?

I dont think it matters but Im in so cal all meters are at curb and water lines are under 2 ft deep sometimes the main is replaced decades befor the house is repipped especially galvinized . often hous is repipped but piping for main is left alone and delt with on as needed basis later
you could throw a sleeve a pvc pipe and if you ever need to replace the coppere wont have to take out much concrete or just ignore my suggestion just something to concider
