2 basin to single basin question

Hello,

I'm getting ready to have my kitchen sink replaced and we chose to go from a double basin to single basin sink. Unfortunately we didn't consider the plying implications of doing so.

I just took a look and am confused about how to make this switch. Can one of these drains simply be capped? If so does it matter which one?

Any help us greatly appreciated!

Just cap the unused drain.

If you will have a disposer, you will HAVE to use the lower one.
