Here is an old Moen tub shower valve from 1969.

It takes a Moen 1200 or a 1225 cartridge.
It uses the old style trim with holes at the 7 and 5 o'clock postions.
The Moen TL473 trim with lever works nice on these.

Are you allowed them as they are not safety valve..

It's a service call. If I was installing a new valve, then yes, it would have been pressure balanced.
But wait, I did replace this valve with a new one. So the new one "is" pressure balanced. I just wanted the picture of the old valve so that homeowners could match up with what they already have.

So glad I found this! My valve is almost identical. I have the new handle and plate and was just going to replace that, however, the cold water stop check valve (right side) is now leaking when I loosen it to allow the water flow. I was never able to get the hot water stop check valve closed (left side).
Am I looking at a total fixture replacement or can the leak possibly be remedied with a replacement?
