15 yr old house, only recently noticed the crack on the tiled shower wall in guest shower.

What went wrong?

From the picture, the crack is not in the tiles, but between the tiles and the drywall.

Clean the crack with a utility knife, then apply a nice bead of caulking (DAP kitchen and bath) will fill in the crack to look like new.

Probably an installer mistakenly filled the gap between tile and sheetrock with grout, instead of
using caulk. Doing so will almost always result in unsightly cracks soon thereafter. Wood-frame
construction moves with the seasons, and as the new wood framing dries and shrinks. Grout
should never be used to fill cracks at changes of plane, or changes between different materials.
