I want to replace a 3.5 gal American Standard toilet. It has a 4049 tank with a date stamp that read "Dec6." I've measured multiple times and the wall (which is tiled) to the center of the bolts reads a hair past 10 3/4" -- allowing 1/4" for the tile (I'm not including the base tile), that gives me an 11" rough-in.

The current toilet is right up against the wall as it is. I'd love to put in a Toto, as we've done in our other bathrooms, but I am concerned it will be too tight. And a 10" rough toilet will leave a lot of space behind the tank.

To add to this, we prefer a standard height bowl -- "comfort height" is anything but, to us. Any suggestions? Thanks, all.

Place a piece of 2 x 4 behind the tank if you go with a 10" Rough
