10 gal.elect water heater

i changed heating element yesterday in 1 of my 2 10 gal tanks (in the same place). i heard the element kick in. today the top line marked hot was still cold. I turned the fauceys an shower on an was excessive air coming out. could that have the one heater from heating. PUZZLED

You should turn the water on into the WH, and let the air out of a hot faucet, before you turn the electricity back on to the WH.

If you don't purge all of the air out of the WH before you turn it back on, the heating element will almost immediately overheat and burn out.
