    that was one thing i was considering.while turning the shut off valve and holding the pipe nipple my fear is bending or collapsing the chrome nipple.is that possible and if so any good ideas how to put a hold on both parts and not cause that to happen?thanks for any input.

    hello everyone. i have a clawfoot tub water supply leaking.just wondering the best way to fix.the leak is between the half inch female fitting on the shut off valve and the half inch chrome nipple going into it.i used teflon tape 2 to 3 wraps and a good snug hand tight with a partial tightening...
